Operator Safety

This machine employs spring-loaded guards that hide the slitting saw blades. Only when the operator lowers the upper carriage, and the cable is pressed into the guards, does the slitting saws engage the cable. The cable, and “plunger” make it virtually impossible for the operator to come into contact with the high-speed slitting saw blades. When the operation is complete, and the upper carriage returned to its vertical position, the slitting saws are automatically covered by the spring-loaded guards.

Likewise, the cross-cut circular saw blade is protected from operator contact. Only when the upper carriage is lowered does the blade guard retract. There is an additional clear guard at the front of the saw to prevent any inadvertent operator contact.

This is an industrial-quality machine. It is not light because of its robust design and heavy-duty components. If used at a permanent prefab shop then the weight is obviously not a problem – just secure it to a bench. Certainly, if your application is to process MC cable on-site at a job-site then this machine can easily be transported, moved about the site by (2) people or perhaps secured to a rolling bench.
